Planning An Eco-friendly Wedding
(Wedding Dress and invitations)

P

lanning an eco-friendly wedding can be accomplished with minimal effort simply by the choice of green products you choose to buy. Initially you might be reluctant to introduce green sensitive products on your special day. You want the day to be as special as possible so introducing unknowns may make you nervous. Fear not because green is not only easy but it can be very elegant and affordable.
The mindset in planning a green wedding is simple….create an elegant affair while still remaining sensitive to the environment. These principles will help guide you as you start planning every decision leading to your big day.

Wedding Dress

P

robably the most important element of your wedding day is your wedding dress. Sustainable, recycled, and reusable can be the criteria to guide you when selecting a green wedding dress. Reusable can simply be using you mothers or grandmothers wedding dress. At first is may appear to be out of fashion but getting a seamstress to design a modern look can be a very elegant and affordable way to go.
If you decide to go new you can target a wedding dress that is sustainable. This could be one made from natural organic fibers with no animal byproducts and harmful dyes. These include cotton, peace silk, hemp, and bamboo. A dress that uses recycled fabrics will also qualify as an eco-friendly dress

Invitations

T

here are many options for eco-friendly invitations. You can consider 100% recycled paper, partially recycled paper, or completely tree free paper for your wedding invitations and other stationery.

An example would be 100% pcw paper, which means it uses no new trees and averts waste from landfills. The second is a cotton paper, FSC certified for responsible forest management and consists of partially recycled content.

Your wedding announcement or invitation can set the tone for your environmentally friendly wedding. There are many options for you without compromising on style. Be inspired to create an elegant affair while minimizing your impact on the environment.
